\nWith no easy answer it came down to the question asked by George Pheneger, when he challenged the group: “If we say right now that 2 weeks from Sunday we will hold our first church service and Sunday School, how many of you will be there with your children?”<\/em>
\nA moment of silence–then all replied: “I will”
\n<\/em>
\nThis was the moment the group stepped out in faith on a seemingly impossible task. They said when without knowing the how and where. This was the moment things started happening.
\nOn the morning of April 29th, their dream became a reality when twenty-two people organized by a commission of Brazos Presbytery.
\nThe name “The First Presbyterian Church of Dickinson,”<\/strong> was chosen by the congregation.
\nFour elders were elected: Philip Frank,A.R. Pettyjohn, A.A. O’Kelly, and George Pheneger.
\nIn October 22, the three acres the church now occupies were purchased and presented by the Galveston County Church Extension Committee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
